Last fall, electronic voter lists in five Montgomery County elections precincts did not work properly, but election officials still allowed 745 people to cast votes without confirming their registration. The State Board of Elections says some of them voted in wrong precincts and asked Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli to investigate. By law, his office is charged with conducting such probes when agencies like the elections board so request. A representative is in Christiansburg today to gather information and prepare a report for submission to the State Board of Elections. Cuccinelli says the investigation, while unusual in nature, is not criminal one.
