Ahead of his program on diversity at Jefferson Center tonight Star Trek actor George Takei got a birds-eye view of Roanoke from Mill Mountain this morning – with Mayor David Bowers as his tour guide. Takei had publicly criticized Bowers last fall for his reference to the Japanese-American internment camps of World War 2 in the Mayor’s Syrian refugee memo. Takei also greeted some bewildered tourists at the Mill Mountain Star who were surprised to see the original “Mr. SuLu” in the flesh
