Roanoke Police: body found inside burned-out car

Fire-ImageRoanoke Police say a body was found inside a burning vehicle overnight. There is no indication yet how the person died or any word on his or her identity. Firefighters were called to the 400 block of Allison Avenue between Franklin Road and Highland park shortly before 4:00 am. The body was found inside the car once the fire was put out.

The Roanoke Police Department responded to the 400 block of Allison Avenue on May 06, 2013 at 3:58am to a vehicle fire. After the fire was extinguished, a body was found inside the passenger compartment of the vehicle. The Police Department is conducting a death investigation as a result of the incident. The identity of the body remains unknown at this time. Roanoke Fire & EMS and the State Medical Examiner’s Office are also involved in the investigation.
