Police put their Facebook page to work during this week’s evacuation of Valley View Mall and search for a man seen in surveillance photos. Police Spokeswoman Aisha Johnson says this is the first time they used social media for an event of this magnitude. It helped reached people who get most of their information this way, and it allowed a two-way online conversation. Johnson said they also got 300 new Facebook “likes” to receive breaking Roanoke Police news in the future.
