CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) _ The vice rector of the University of Virginia’s Board of Visitors has resigned, bidding to quell some of the turmoil surrounding the ouster of President Teresa Sullivan. Mark Kington said in a letter Tuesday he also is stepping down from the university’s board of visitors.

Governor Bob McDonnell held a conference call Tuesday from Sweden to talk about his economic development and job creation trip to Europe.  But WFIR’s Timothy Martin reports the governor spent most of the time answering questions about the ousting of the University of Virginia president.
