From Virginia State Police: Police are continuing their investigation into a fatal crash that killed a Floyd County resident yesterday afternoon around 6:30 pm on Route 221 approximately 3/4 mile north of Route 654 in Floyd County. The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2006 Harley Davidson motorcycle that was being operated by Larry James Scott, age 40 of Floyd, Virginia was traveling southbound on Route 221 when he attempted to pass a 2005 Chevrolet pick-up truck on a double yellow solid line that was also traveling southbound and was attempting to make a left turn onto Maple Springs Drive. The motorcycle collided with the pick up truck which caused the operator of the bike to be ejected and pronounced dead at the scene. Larry Scott was wearing a motorcycle helmet at the time of the crash.
