Vinton-WFIRVinton Police say officers responded to a robbery Monday at the CVS on Hardy Road. Authorities say a suspect went to the pharmacy and demanded an undisclosed amount of narcotic medication. The suspect claimed to have a weapon but did not show it. He took off on foot before police arrived. The suspect is described as a white man, 30-35 years old, 5’10-6′ tall, 225-250 lbs., and a brown beard. Fatal Accident-WFIRFrom Virginia State Police: Virginia State Police Trooper R.A. Black II is investigating a fatal crash in Botetourt County. The crash occurred Oct. 30, 2016, at 1:10 a.m., on F-055 less than a mile south of Route 608. A 2006 Ford Mustang was traveling south on F-055 when it ran off the left side of the road, struck several trees and an embankment. The Mustang then overturned across the roadway and came to rest upside down in the roadway. The driver, Trystan B. Lowdermilk, 17, of Buchanan, Va., was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle. He was flown to a nearby hospital, where he died later Sunday morning. A 16-year-old female passenger was not wearing a seatbelt and was also ejected from the Mustang. She was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of serious injuries. Alcohol was not a factor in the crash. The crash remains under investigation at this time.
