Virginia State Police are investigating a fatal crash around 1 a.m. this morning in Bedford County. Authorities say Randy Brooks, Jr. 24, of Forest was traveling at a high rate of speed on Bateman Bridge Road near Cameron Road when he lost control of his car, crossed the center line, and left the roadway striking a tree. Brooks was wearing his seatbelt and died at the scene. Police say speed was a factor in the crash.
