The details must still be worked out, but plans are in the works to build a paved exercise path on William Fleming High School property. This follows complaints from nearby residents that they’ve been barred from using Fleming’s new running track — even though taxpayer funds paid for it. The Roanoke School Board has given its initial go-ahead to apply for state-funded pay-for-performance teacher bonuses. It’s a pilot program next year for schools deemed “hard to staff”. The latest from News/Talk 960’s Evan Jones.

Roanoke Valley home foreclosures may be heading downward. They certainly were for March — RealtyTrac reports the number of homes in the foreclosure process was down 28% last month from one year earlier.  Overall real estate transactions remain far fewer than in past years, but as News/Talk 960’s Evan Jones reports, one Roanoke County office is taking advantage of that slowdown.

Forecasts of heavy rain Saturday have led the National College Blue Ridge Marathon to change part of the course. They’re moving a three-mile stretch that was supposed to run alongside the Roanoke River late in the race. As News/Talk 960’s Evan Jones reports, organizers have many other things keeping them busy.

Close to 1,000 runners are converging on Roanoke this weekend for the second National College Blue Ridge Marathon.
