Roanoke seeks citizen opinions on voter precinct change

Roanoke election officials want to know what city residents think about a plan to realign election precincts. Registrar Lavern Shepherd says if it’s adopted, the plan would reduce the number of precincts from 32 to 19, but could not take effect until next year. Shepherd says the city has scheduled information sessions in each quadrant of the city.

All the meetings start at 4:00 p.m. Here are the dates and locations:

–Thursday, Aug. 9, at the Jackson Park Branch Library

–Monday, Aug. 13, at Preston Park Recreation Center

–Tuesday, Aug. 14, at William Fleming High School Auditorium

–Thursday, Aug. 16, at Raleigh Court Branch Library

–Monday, Aug. 20, at the Municipal Building downtown
