The Supreme Court has upheld the heart of President Barack Obama’s health care overhaul — ruling in favor of the requirement that most Americans can be required to have health insurance, or else pay a penalty.

Gov. Bob McDonnell says the law will impair economic recovery, infringes on citizens’ liberties, will hurt small businesses and imposes unfunded mandates on states.  WFIR has also heard from 8th District Delegate Greg Habeeb:

Former governor and current Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Tim Kaine,  however, calls the law an important first step in curbing discriminatory insurance company practices and increasing access to health care.
