Kayakers found a body in the Roanoke River over the weekend near Explore Park. A swift water rescue team was called to the scene, and the male body has been taken to the medical examiner’s office for identification and an autopsy. Rescuers had been searching the same area for missing Roanoke man, 63-year-old Joseph Salmon, whose vehicle was found last week in a parking lot along the Blue Ridge Parkway near the Roanoke River overlook. Authorities say the identity of the man should be released sometime this week.
